May 25th - Friday Street Races at Houston Raceway Park

Well as we all knew might happen and the reason the Saturn is not a daily driver, my engine ate itself.

I was testing out the 100 shot of nitrous and through 1st and most of 2nd I felt the power that shakes you so bad you can't see. Then at the top of 2nd it started sounding like it was flooding, small back fires, and smoke coming out of the back.

Initial indications show that I lost cylinders 1 and 2. It is now rebuild time and time to do it right. I am probably going to convert to a DOHC and maybe use Turbo with a smaller shot of Nitrous, if any at all. I will be parting out the top end of the SOHC which is still in good condition so if you need anything or know anyone that does, drop me a line. This rebuild will take some time so I don't plan on being back on the track until the end of the year at the earliest.

Update:

I got the head off with the help of a local Saturn member and found this.
